A Tailor-Made project
Baia Holiday Cavallino, a tourist facility on the coast of Jesolo that opened in 2017, is a water park with a slide area and a wellness area with large whirlpool tubs.
Kronos presents a type of operation that enhances the ability to deliver tailor-made projects, carried out with the invaluable cooperation of Studio Contract.
The challenge: an original look
A covering solution was needed for a particular structure, with curved shapes. The product had to be innovative in terms of appearance, but also able to guarantee excellent technical performance.
Such a tailor-made project would need to be flexible and effective, allowing the Kronos project engineers to interact with the architects of Studio Contract, who required an original, elegant design solution, able to offer a distinctive alternative to the usual finishes employed for pools, generally based on glass mosaics.
A customised solution with mosaics cut to measure
The need for a material able to cover the pool sides and the seats in the whirlpool tubs prompted the creation of a non-catalogue product, cut to measure, using 6mm-thick Maxi porcelain stoneware slabs mounted mosaic-style, with 2×2 cm tesserae.
Non-slip performance barefoot on wet surfaces
The priority was to create a paving solution able to comply with the most stringent non-slip regulations, especially for the round part of the poolside. The Kronos solution was to cover the poolsides with mosaics cut from Grip slabs, which guarantee non-slip performance even barefoot on wet surfaces.
Porcelain stoneware with a natural beach effect
Paving has been created around the tubs using the Block series in the sizes 20.2×20.2 and 20.2×30.4 cm, suitable for installation in the curved areas and able to create a “beach effect”
The technical difficulties, due to the continual changes in the thicknesses and the curved shapes, were solved by using these small-size tiles, which made laying easier.
The vintage-effect material, with aged edges, has given the paving a natural appearance.
For an even more stylish effect, the porcelain stoneware was used in several different shades and sizes, obtaining an appealing colour effect.
Waterjet cutting technology was used to recreate the Baia Holiday Cavallino logo as authentically as possible, using the ceramic material, to give just the right touch of character to a project with a tailor-made approach.
